Project: Georgian Window Treatments
The brief was to design the window treatments for a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. I decided that a period property would warrant a richer, more detailed and intricate design so I asked the staff at York Civic Trust property Fairfax House (Castlegate, York) for permission to carry out a site visit to take measurements and photographs of the walls and windows.
In order to make sure my designs were authentic, I had to research the history of the house and Georgian styles, colours and textiles. After sketching various options, the chosen designs were drawn out, FF&E sourced and fabric quantities were calculated.
The sketches show details of various style options and accessories and the elevations are all hand-drawn and rendered.
